Tribus Monthly Newsletter - September 2024

This past month at Tribus has been a busy one! We had our quarterly company meet, welcomed new team members, and participated in software leadership events. We attended the Green Tech Gathering that sparked exciting sustainability ideas. Chris, our Lead Developer also led an inspiring school event, and we’re happy to announce our nomination in the Yorkshire Business Awards 2025. A big thank you to everyone for their efforts and contributions this month.

Quarterly Company Meet

During our recent team meet, we enjoyed some drinks (Non-alcoholic! Some of us had to drive home!) and snacks while Laura and Adam discussed the company’s goals and upcoming projects. They outlined where we’re heading and the steps to get there. Chris Richards, our lead developer, also gave an update on his work, sharing details about his latest achievements. He briefly mentioned his experience speaking at a local school, which we’ll discuss later. The session was a great chance for the team to get together and stay on top of things.

New Starters

This month we welcomed not one, but two new starters here at Tribus! We welcomed our new .NET developer, Mark. Along with our new project manager, Andrew! Both bring valuable experience and fresh ideas to their roles, and we’re excited to see the positive impact they’ll have on our team.

Software leadership event

On a rainy Wednesday evening, our Lead Developer - Chris Richards, attended the Software Engineering Leadership @ WRK - Meetup & Social - September 2024 where James Hall and Josh Nesbit recorded a live Q&A for their Off Script Podcast and shared their insights and facilitated a session based around ‘The future of software engineering leadership’.

Green tech event

As part of the Leeds Digital Festival Laura & Oliver attended the Green Tech Gathering to network with those in the tech community who are focusing on sustainable ideas. At Tribus, sustainability is a key focus area for us as we work with climate conscious clients.

These industry events help us get out of the office and out there to discuss sustainable ideas and help the tech world move forward towards a greener future.

BBG Academy - Future Inspiration

Our lead developer, Chris Richards, recently spoke at BBG Academy's Future Inspiration, Careers and Resilience Week. He aimed to break down outdated stereotypes about software development, highlighting that success in tech doesn't require being a "techie." Chris explained how there are many non-technical roles like UX Designer, Project Manager, or Copywriter that are just as important.

After his talk, Chris led a group activity where students brainstormed app ideas, giving them the chance to see how software can solve everyday problems. It was a great way to encourage creative thinking and show the practical side of tech.

Yorkshire business awards 2025

We welcomed Adam Johnson from Tudor International Freight and Elizabeth Hancock from RBC as part of the Yorkshire Business of the Year Awards 2025. Tribus is excited to be competing in the 'Innovation' category for our work on a custom risk management platform tailored for the property, construction, and facilities management sectors.

The platform offers a solution to help businesses streamline compliance and manage risk more effectively. It's been a fantastic project that reflects our commitment to driving efficiency and safety in these industries. You can learn more on our blog here.
